Millennium Goals: Reduce Child Mortality

The goal to Reduce Child Mortality can relate to our own state because Missouri's annual death rate last year for children was 1,100. The Reduction of Child Mortality's target goal is to reduce the mortality rate of children by two thirds from 1990 to 2015. They want to help save the lives of children who are dying from things that can be prevented from a vaccine. From 1990-2000, 10 million lives were saved just from taking the measles vaccine. In just 2012 6.6 million children under five died and most of these deaths could have been prevented if illnesses were treated or prevented. I am personally interested in this goal because my personal goal is to become a pediatric nurse and I'd like to think that I could help in saving children's lives someday.
